If your paint looks dull in sunlight even after a wash, the problem may be fine surface defects. Swirl marks and light scratches interrupt reflections, making otherwise clean paint look less clear.
Paint correction uses machine polishing and abrasive products to improve those defects. The amount of improvement depends on the damage and how much correction the finish can safely tolerate.
Why washing does not remove swirl marks
Washing removes dirt from the surface. Swirl marks are defects in the finish itself, so removing dirt does not remove the marks underneath.
On conventional clear-coated paint, abrasive correction removes a small amount of clear coat to reduce suitable defects. Because that material is finite, the process should prioritize preservation as well as appearance.
Single-step polish or two-step correction?
Our single-step polish focuses on improving gloss and clarity while reducing light haze and micro-marring. It can be a good fit for paint that is already in reasonably good condition and needs refinement.
Two-step correction includes a cutting stage for more noticeable defects, followed by a finishing polish to refine the result. It is more involved, but it is not automatically the right choice for every vehicle.
The decision should follow an inspection and a test area. Vehicle age alone does not tell us which approach makes sense.
Can every scratch be removed?
No. Some scratches extend too deeply to correct safely. Paint chips, peeling clear coat, and damage through the color coat need a different type of repair.
A scratch may become less noticeable without disappearing completely. That can be the better result when further polishing would sacrifice too much of the finish.
Ask for a realistic explanation of what can improve before agreeing to the work. A promise to remove every mark should not replace a careful assessment. You can see real results in our before and after gallery.
What happens after correction?
Discuss suitable protection and a maintenance routine after polishing. A ceramic coating is one option. Correction improves the existing finish; future washing habits help determine how well that appearance holds up.
